John Lennon – ChatterQuote October 2012

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

This month, our quote comes from a famous and iconic singer, songwriter, musician and political activist and one of the founding members of the Beatles – John Lennon, a Libra, born October 9th, 1940 in Liverpool, England. And unless you’ve been living in a cave, then you also know that he was shot in New York and died on December 8th, 1980 at the tragically young age of 40 years old. Taken from us too soon, this man was an absolute genius, whose controversial and outspoken character was a threat to mainstream society because of what he believed in, dared to say out loud, and brought to the masses through his brilliant art, music and words.

And of all the words he gave us, it was difficult to choose just one quote… so I decided, in the interest of keeping the balance, I’ll give you two! So here’s the 2nd one, which was also a favorite that my mother and I often used, and she even gave me a pin with this saying on it!

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.
