The sign of Libra rules over the kidneys and the urinary system. Much like Libra’s job is to establish balance within humanity, the kidneys’ job is to keep the balance within the human body, more specifically within the urine.

The Kidneys:

Drink plenty of Water every day to flush the kidneys – simple, obvious and yet one of the best things we can do for our human engine. Drinking fresh Lemon Juice in a glass of hot water every morning helps to flush the kidneys.

Kidney Stones:

Kidney stones are a crystallization of substances in the urine, and one of the contributing factors is dehydration, which is why drinking plenty of Water helps to reduce your chances of getting them. Some research suggests that you avoid long-term use of Vitamin C and Calcium (which may add to the crystallization of the kidney stones) and instead take plenty of Magnesium and Vitamin B6. The Chinese also recommend Cinnamon for kidney stones and also Ginseng, and some sources suggest including 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil in your diet every day. Parsley and Celery Seed can also help to dissolve kidney stones.

Urinary Infections:

Parsley is a good aid to the urinary tract, as it increases urine output and provides relief for URI’s (Urinary Tract Infections). Drinking Cranberry Juice helps urinary infections such as urethritis or cystitis. Baking Soda can also help with urinary tract infections by making the bladder more alkaline. Drink ¼ teaspoon a day in 8oz of water. Eating live Yogourt can help to ease inflammation and infection, or it can be used as a douche. And once again, our old friend Garlic is also known to ease inflammation and infection. To further relieve any discomfort, add LavenderBergamot or Sandalwood to the bath, as these all contain antiseptic properties.
