So with this month being associated with the sign of Scorpio, doctors, researchers and surgeons, we are bringing you photographers who shoot for Healthcare. This work can range from simple portraiture, to documenting actual procedures and treatments, to more “lifestyle” imagery for health insurance, or pharmaceuticals.
First up is Chicago-based advertising, panoramic & aerial photographer and friend Mark Segal who I’ve known for many years. Mark has literally traveled the world shooting for a variety of advertising, corporate, editorial and healthcare clients, in addition he co-founded the stock library Panoramic Images with his brother Doug, and some of you may recall we featured his company SkyPan International in a previous bulletin. From his website, “He produces images that are vital, powerful and expressive.”

My most recent article for PhotoServe’s Features section is about my client and fine art photographer Debbie Miracolo. Her series “The Change Agents” will be on display at the Arrojo Studios until January 26th. Here is a link to the article: Debbie Miracolo December2010

Scorpio, The Scorpion (could have fooled me, what is that thing?)
Libra is the sign associated with partnerships and marriage – a Libra is always looking for a partner, either in business or in love, perhaps both? So we thought what better topic for our tips section this month, than dating tips!
Libras are often known to have a sweet tooth, so I could have gone with yet another yummy desert this month, but one of Libra’s favorite things to eat happens to be strawberries, so when I found this recipe for Strawberry Scones in one of my Ina Garten “Barefoot Contessa” recipe books, it seemed a perfect fit. She says, “In a world where most scones are like hockey pucks, this (recipe) is light and moist. We use all kinds of fruit fillings, including raisins, fresh cranberries, and dried cherries (yum!). The key to flaky scones (pay attention now) is not to over-blend the butter.”
Be sure to check out my most recent article for PhotoServe’s Features section. This month my conversation is with photographer Keith Barraclough and how he managed to shoot close to 164 dog breeds for Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet. So with this month being associated with the sign of Libra, the sign whose symbol is the scales of justice, connected with law, politics, negotiating and mediating – I thought it would be fitting to show you some photographers who specialize in corporate, business and political portraiture.
Bill Cramer is an accomplished photographer, specializing in environmental portraiture, who is based near Philadelphia and has been shooting for editorial, advertising, corporate and more for the better part of 20 years now. Bill is also the brains behind and the founder of Wonderful Machine, a boutique web-marketing portal for commercial photographers.
Growing up in English countryside, there were always tons of dogs around and everyone in my family seemed to have a dog, or two, and mostly Labradors or retrievers of some sort. Although I have had dogs too, I am really more of a cat person, so for this month, I asked my sister to write some dog tips for us. The photo is one I took when I was last in Guernsey visiting my Aunt. We were walking her little Jack Russell “Cassie” and ran into a woman who breeds and trains collies and was walking a group of them with a black lab as well. She very methodically arranged and instructed them all into a line for me so I could take their picture!
